So Sunday I take 2 buddies out to grill Early am to try and catch a big red or so. There are 2 boats to be seen out there. So I set up 4 rods and start fishing. We catch and release one nice red. Then some F-ing tool in a newer 20 ft sea hunt/pro runs full speed and gets within 25 feet beside my boat with my lines out on both sides. Again there is no other boat within 100+ yards of me. I’m like are you ****ting me right now??? He then slows down after he is past my boat. Then sets up 150 feet infront of me (which is normal… it gets tight out there). I thought of letting him set up and doing the same …to have him understand both sides of that story but decided to take the high road. How do you deal with these either A. Googans or B. A-holes. I only fish the grill this month and have seen some of the worst boaters ever…are they just dumb!!! Maybe I will just stick to the back water…
Plenty of room out at the grillage. You can be 30 feet from someone fishing in 28 feet of water while they are in 50+. It is what it is. Sounds normal for that area.

So would you mind if at dead low tid, 7 am, me flying by you at WOT (with in 25 ft of your boat) when there is no other boats near you for a 100 yrd+? I would never do that …I would put put to any spot and respect other folks. Maybe its just me ; )

Common situation duck hunting but I haven’t seen too much while fishing. I hit em with the Q beam and they usually get the point.

I’m so salt life I sued google earth for giving away all of my fishing spot’s.
Common sense and courtesy, sometimes not common. I have seen it at public boat landings and many times while fishing near jetties. Twice it involved charter captains (I was apparently in THEIR way), other times it was folks carelessly driving within 50 feet of me while anchored. I can only hope that my 30# braid ruins their prop shaft and the fishing karma is not good for them. Some ignorant people drive their boats the same way they drive their cars.
i have a question for everybody,
providing that the person gives you plenty of room while they go by, would you rather have them go fast or low average speeds??
to ionicswing, id rather them fly by me and produce a small wake. instead of them slowing down and creating a wave that a whale could wake board

Exactly!!! Some morons don’t understand that when they slow down and the hull is at a 45 degree angle, they are throwing the biggest wake possible.

25’ is easily too close to haul s by another boat. But, if they are gonna slow down to where they’re just off plane and not all the way to no wake speed I’d rather them go by at WOT trimmed out.
BTW, try that if you want to around here, you may get beaned with something as you go by!!

thanks for the input, but however if you read my original post i was referring to a slightly different situation as to where the boater gives plenty of room.
and yes i would agree with you passing by within 25’ at any speed other than basically idling is annoying as hell.
