What to Target in March

Hey Everyone,

As a relative newby to Bluffton/HHI, I’d appreciate some advice on what to target this time of year. I have access to Colleton River for fishing and access to a boat to get out to HHI or PRS.

Any advice on what to target and with what type of bait/lure would be much appreciated. Able to head offshore if there’s any action on the wrecks. Would love to show my daughter some fish while we’re in town in a couple of weeks.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice.

Isn’t that counter-intuitive to suggest Miller Lite when your screen name is Redstripe?

No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how far you fall…you are never out of the fight.

Bottom fishing nearshore reefs can be lots of fun and action for the kids! Bucktail jigs tipped with squid or cut bait works well! Good luck!

Thanks for the guidance… Might have to give the reefs a try this time around.

Sheepshead will be my go-to for march inshore and nearshore. Fishing for reds and trout will be the WORST this month.

Looking at my book,we catch tons of spottail in march.Being flexible is the key,at least for me. Sheeps are always fun, got about 30 yesterday.Came home and the backyard was lit up with reds… got a few on a swim bait until the dolphins showed up and shut it down. Will get back after em today. Have fun and tight lines~
