What will happen to the old 41 bridge?

With the new bridge slated for completion in 2017, anyone heard rumors of what will become of the old 41 bridge when it’s torn down?
I did hear they were going to leave a section on the MP side as a fishing pier.
The rest would make some nice additions to our artificial reefs.

Usually getting material isn’t the issue for the reefs. It’s the deployment cost.

A new Fishing dock would be amazing there. They could actually paint in a few diagonal parking spots. I have heard nice holes to the downstream side of the bridge.

Why not just take out needed passage for channel traffic and leave both ends for fishing pier???:sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses:Seems to me it would cost less than demo and would provide good structure for fishing, just sayin:smiley::smiley:

Do we think these things just pay for themselves? Mt pleasant would have to buy it from someone ( prob DOT) …then maintain the thing forever…they breakdown over time. It would have to be a pay to fish situation that would loose money for the town…1/2 the state would have to fish there every day to recoup costs. Besides, there are not any fish past 526, ever…they died…long ago.

Whats cost the most ; demo, disposal of channel section , saving remainder for recreational uses for folks that have to fish from
shore areas that are already rapidly disappearing on a regular basis , or izzing it away on a multitude of ice-cream projects that come and go like the tide with nothing to show for the investment ???:imp::imp:

Deffinately saving it for recreational use. That was an easy one.

Heard they’ll leave piece of it up for a fishing pier. Hope so
