Got a question here fella’s. Went to get the boat ready for my 1st trip this year and realized that because my bottle of stabil hasen’t been opened that I didn’t put any in my tank when I put the boat up for the winter in October. The gas doesn’t smell bad! but is that an accurate indicator? Is there another test? or is it possible that the fuel didn’t turn? Hate to waste a full tank of gas, but don’t want to have to operate on my carb either.

Water and contaminates settle to the bottom, might find out that its bad once to get in the water and slosh the tank around some. I agree with geechee bear, see if its dirty, then put it in your car. Your car is not as picky and stuck on the side of the road is better than stuck in a creek. LOL

Theres nothing like the "Smell" and sounds of the creek. Its not just one thing that makes it familiar..its all of it.
How old is the gas? You cant burn it in your car if you’ve already put oil in it. If its less then 6 months I would probably try it and put new fuel in after you burn down the old gas some.
I just burned 85 gallons in my boat 2 weeks ago that had been in the tank since last July or before. I say that because the boat was last in the water July 4th weekend last year. Gas was actually older than that.
I added a full bottle of Startron and put the boat in the water for a test run. Everything went good so I pulled the boat to Edisto and fished the entire week. Made several trips out to the 60’ range and several days just ran the creeks. Never a hiccup. I burned around 60 gallons of the old gas and will try to burn the rest before adding fresh gas.
It was Ethanol-free premium gas BTW.
Thanks everybody, Tank was full, ethanol free premium, new that weekend. Hooked it up and pulled it around the neighborhood to slosh it around in the tank, then pumped a gallon out to a glass jar and didn’t see any sign of contamination. However since the weather is going to be questionable this weekend I’m going to stay here in the upstate, use the Startron, take her to Keowee and hope I don’t have to limp in on the trolling motor. If I do end up limping in on the TM I’ll post it and graciously accept my well deserved I TOLD YOU SO’s. Thanks again everyone, hope y’all have a great weekend!

run it, but stay out of wide open throttle
that Yamaha 2 stroke 70 is pretty forgiving, but if you notice it isn’t running exactly right, put it back on the trailer and see a mechanic
if you run that motor with a dirty carb, you will be looking for a new motor, as it will run lean and one or more cylinders will NOT be getting properly lubricated
