NOTICED SOME CRUD IN WATER TUB AFTER RUNNING MY 90 YAMMI 4 BANGER … MAKES ME THINK I NEED TO FLUSH IT WITH SOME SORT OF CHEMICAL CLEANER ;;; ANY SUGGESTIONS AS WHAT TO USE

I’ve used both Hammerhead and RydLyme descaler products. Flushed the motor out for 3-4 hours, and all sorts of crap was flushed out of the cooling system of the motor. You just need two hoses, a water pump, and a big bucket or tub.

appreciate the info ; I ordered a gal of the rydlyme ;; what % did you use or did you cut it at all ???

I believe the RydLyme was 4 gallons of water to 1 gallon of the product.

I ran the hose from the water pump to the hose freshwater connection on the motor, then I disconnected the tube where the motor pisses and inserted a nipple and attached another tube that ran back down into the bucket. Then just let it circulate for a few hours. You can find a decent water pump on Amazon for around 20-40 dollars, and you can re-use it each season. Make sure you get one with decent power.

You will see a huge difference once it is completed.

I’ve been doing this once every year now, just to get the build up out of the motor.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

If it’s something you might want to do multiple times down the road, Rydlyme sells a package deal with all the tubes and pump.

I have a 2016 200 hp Suzuki.I understand they’re not the most corrosion-resistant motors on the market with a $πity corrosion warranty. So y’all got me thinking. Well when in doubt go to Google. First thing I learned. Is something I didn’t think about was the internal zincs/Anodes. Apparently you should remove them when flushing and replace with new ones. Second thing Also remove the thermostat.and I guess that would be a good time to replace it also. The third thing .Some of the videos mentioned the kit with the pump. The pump is not adequate for Bigger motors.
I guess I’ll be ordering some flush, zinc’s & Thermostat. Thanks Gailwinds for bringing that to my attention. Something I had not thought about.

I am fragile. Not like a flower. But like a bomb.

I’m surprised you didn’t know that already. The inside water passages are ceramic coated and are clean from what I can see(and I rarely flush my motors). All the brands are designed on planned obsolescence. The zincs are not that hard to change. I’m happy with my Zukes….especially being able to take off the bottom skirt to work on. Make sure you get the right ones for salt water.

The ENTER-NET Fisherman

I run my ride in sweet water 95% of the time so in my mind I see no reason to flush it … When I take it to the salt I always drop it in the pond when I get home and run around enough to clean all the salt out… Problem I noticed was I was running it in trough after doing some TLC and maintenance when I noticed some gritty white solids in bottom of trough… Made me think I’d better look a little deeper , so here I am preparing to give it a chemical flush just to be sure … It may be a fools venture but I sure don’t want to neglect a potential costly problem !!!:slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face:
