What Year is My Motor??????????????

Who wants to play “What Year is My Motor”? My Dad gave me a 15hp Mariner motor years ago that has been sitting in storage. I decided that it was time to get it running and put in the jon boat I am restoring. The problem is, there is no paperwork of any kind to be found and my Dad has since had a couple of strokes so he can’t help me. Can anyone tell me what year model this motor is or point me in the right direction. I have included a picture of the information plate.

I did a little googling and found it to be in the year range 78-86. Thats all I got.

my guess would be a 1990.

It should be between 79 and 83. 84 is N,85 is K,86 is J. To my knowledge before 1984 the model did not designate a specific year. Also That will be a Yamaha Mariner.

You were in the ballpark Optiker. Should Loosewire be unable to fulfill the role of winner, you would have to step in as first runner up.
