whats a good shrimp dip?

Wanting to make some kind of shrimp dip. Anyody got a good recipe to share? Wanting to do some kind of cheesy shrimp dip in a crock pot type deal and eat with chips or crackers but open to all recipes.

I would love to have Pennys, But here is one I use.

2 cans of small shrimp, rinse one can, only drain the other.
1 16 oz jar of mayonnaise
1 regular pkg cream cheese
1 envelope Knox gelatin
1 small bunch of chopped green onions
black pepper
1 can cream of mushroom soup
I usually put in a hand full or 2 of cheddar cheese.
I also usually cut back on the mayo a little.

In a sauce pan, blend soup and cream cheese to warm (no need to allow to boil). Take off heat and add mayonnaise, shrimp, onions and blend well.
Dilute the gelatin with 1 tablespoon of cold water and then stir into the dip. Add black pepper to taste.

Pour the dip into the final serving container and allow to sit several hours if not overnight.

Always use a heavy cracker for dipping as potato chips are not strong enough to handle the thickness, yet creaminess of this dip.

Also, I always leave a few of shrimp and chopped green onions sitting on top of the dip so that people will be able to distinguish that the dip is shrimp and green onions.

the “sitting for several hours”…is that done in the fridge??

ok…heres kinda sorta my recipe…as andi said …I improvise according to whats in the refrig. at the time…but here goes.

1 quart(or more) of small shrimp cooked and peeled (I add a little old bay as they cook)

then chop in processor…

1/2 bar or 4 0zs cream cheese
1/4 cup may0
1/4 cup sour cream
1 tsp horsy
1/2 tsp worshchire
2 tablespoon finely diced sweet onion(optional)

I also sometimes add 1/3 package of lipton onion soup mix or substitute “taziki” sauce for the sour cream or mayo.

can also oadd a dash of hot sauce or cajun seasoning

mix all togehter
sprinkle in some grated cheddar cheese and refrigerate for a few hours…best if served the next day

add more or less shrimp…add some sour cream or mayo if its too thick

I usually do double the recipe and yields a nice big bowl

as H20gul said…I improvise but usung the first few will get you on track

also for a good shrimp paste or spread

1 quart cooked and peeled shrimp processed fine
1/4 small sweet onion diced very fine
mayo added in to make a spread

serve on bread as a paste or spread,or toast or crackers
