little lady wants to catch some fish. what’s biting?
Nothing for us this afternoon.
I had heard the trout were biting top water late in the evening. We tried to no avail.
Saw lots of people fishing and lots of boats motoring around. Didn’t see anyone catch a fish.
Beautiful evening on the water.

work has had me landlocked way too long…any trout biting? or anything else for that matter? I need to feel a tight line soon!
I’ve been getting out about once a week lately the last month or so. I’m consistently catching small trout on plastic paddle tails on the edge of dark flats in 3-4’ of water but only occasionally catching a 16"+ fish. I’m not finding large schools but will pick up a few at a spot. The good Lord seems to be providing me just enough for a Monday evening meal. Seems like finding clear water is the ticket. Popping corks & vudu shrimp worked for me into till Dec. but I can’t seem to get a bite on them the last few weeks. With this cold snap, I’m not sure if it was enough to send the fish deep and get them more concentrated but will be trying deeper patterns tomorrow if I can talk myself into going out in a cold North wind and will report back.

toddn, If I wasn’t so addicted to trout on artys lately, I’d be tempted to try the sheepshead along the pilings and jetties or black drum in deep holes on cut shrimp.

Have to admit, I chose to spend Monday with it’s 40F temps and 20MPH North winds to get some household chores out of the way. Yep, wussed out, but didn’t seem like it was gonna be much fun and want the time to fish when the wind finally dies. Will try to hit it this weekend. If anyone’s been out since the cold front, please report on any working patterns you’ve found. The population of smaller fish seems good. Think it’s gonna be great in the next couple of years as long as we all only keep just enough for a nice meal and release the rest to grow.
