I’ve noticed a good bit of hostility on a few posts!! I don’t get it. I thought most everyone here was civil with each other… Any-who! Anyone know what river the tides at bushy park run closest with?? Also, I’ve already asked a friend, but want as many opinions as possible; If you had to choose ONE tide to fish in bushy park this weekend, would it be the outgoing or incoming?
Cooper River.
This is just about the most hostile fishing website I’ve seen to date. Been reading it for 4 years - hostile. They cant even manage to have a fishing contest with getting all pissy with each other.
Jughed is right, this is a nasty place at times, which can be quite entertaining if you don’t let it bother you.
He’s also right about the Cooper river.
I prefer fishing the dropping tide, but you have to watch yourself because taking your boat out at dead low tide can be a real mess there, esp if you have a boat with a larger draft.
WHO’S PISSY? I’M NOT PISSY!
This time of year…last two of outgoing, first two of incoming…

Lmao! This is amazing! I didn’t expect Southern to offer any advice after a heated topic discussion we had! Thanks Southern! See, we CAN be civil! It’s really hard to read people through type and texts which may be what leads to seemingly heated rebuttals? Taking my son on the boat and I figure Bushy would be a more forgiving saltwater river to take him in. Look for the kid with a life vest, swimmies, and helmet holding a floatation device. Also look for a guy hammering anxiety meds. Lmao!
That’s why they call it fishing, not catching…

The boat is a different story for tides!! The saltwater side of Bushy park ramp is simply a cove off of the Cooper River - a cove thats filled in with mud. Low tide sucks there, 1-1.5’ of water all the way out to the river - 300 yards or so. Its all loose pluff mud and you can make it out, but your engine wont like you a bit. The freshwater side is fine, but its a run to the salt.
Just up the road toward Cypress Gardens is a deep water ramp on the freshwater side that is a 5 min run to the Cooper.
Cypress Gardens is 2.3 miles south of the intersection with the Cooper River. That spot of the Cooper River is 16.6 miles north of the Bushy Park entrance to the Cooper River, well north of the saltwater/freshwater break line.
