Ive recently gained permission to use a 20ft single engine boat so i wouldnt be too far but looking into a towing service seems like a good idea… Which towing service is the best bang for my budget conscious wallet?

Tow Boat US and Sea Tow are both good companies. They will cost you close to the same amount for unlimited towing and have the same restrictions for how far out they will go and get you. Tow Boat US does get you a small discount at West Marine. Sea Tow has a great App for your phone though. You will be good with either company.

Correct me if I am wrong but I don’t think there is a limit that they will go out!!! At least as far as I know Sea Tow doesn’t have one.
They came and got me when I lost my outdrive 69 miles from the rocks. They did a great job and were very professional. They will be the company I use as long as I am on the ocean!!
I think there website states a limit, but I think both will get you dang near anywhere.
You can’t go wrong with either one. Just get one.

If you can’t stand behind our soldiers, try standing in front of them.
Be sure and be specific about road assistance on whoever you use.
I found out the hard way last week when I had problems and was told that road asst. was $10.00 more per year even with a gold policy with sea tow.
That was not the best thing to find out when your sitting on the side of the highway.
I know that Towboat US has fuel discounts at the Ashley Marina if you ever have to fill up there. Does SeaTow have any fuel discounts on the harbor?
I have been with TowboatUS for a few years. Unfortunately, I have had to use them twice. Once when I ran low on 2-stroke oil and another when I became grounded at night north of BB. I was extremely pleased with the service both times. The owners of the local franchise are super nice folks. That being said, I have never heard anything bad about Sea Tow in Chas. I think we are lucky to have 2 good services.
Also if you insure with BoatUS, you get an awesome discount on the towing, and the insurance is pretty reasonable compared to everyone else also.

with Boat US if you get the unlimited towing pkg. Charleston is an extended service area so the limited nautical miles doesn’t apply! I’ve had Boat US since 2001 Thank God only needed them a couple of times but when i did they were great. It pays to get the unlimited service it will pay for itself the first time you use it! Good luck be safe!
I agree with everyone here, both are very reputable. I went with SeaTow because they have a service on Lake Murray where we have a vacation home.

Also, do you ever go in any of the lakes? Make sure there is a presence in that lake.

I’ve had Sea Tow fro years and used them a few times. The service is everything they advertise it to be. Anthony and his team are great.
Had to get TowboatUS to come get us Tuesday in St.Helena. In an old POS we use for trawling. They came from Port Royal and towed us back to BP. That was the first time ever needing to call them and they were great. The captain was friendly and professional. The guy I was with has the membership and I will be getting it myself soon. It paid for itself in one use.
Thanks TowboatUS!

You got that right Tiger. You pay for one tow or ungrounding and you will wish you had a tow service. My one ungrounding would have been $980.00.
Tow Boat US will cover multiple boats for the same owner, Sea Tow requires a membership for each boat that I owned, a deal breaker there.
Also TB US is not fussy about covering boats that are in a Corp, which I have.
Also TB US has twice the Fleet in Chas as Sea Tow.
I do not see the big deal about Lake coverage being the Deal Maker, how hard is it to get off the Lake, people and Boats everywhere.

I have 6 boats and Sea Tow will cover all of them and has done well! Once I sheered a lower unit at lake Hartwell and called Sea Tow They called me back in 5 min and said they did not have service on Hartwell and said they would call Boat U S and get me service and for me to forward the bill to the to reemburse me. It was in january and starting to snow The tow boat cpt called me and said he was atleast 2 1/2 away and called a freind to meet me on the bank where I was able to reach with my elect motor! Sure made my day! I dont think you could go wrong with either service!
