whats the best paint

about to start the process of sanding and painting one of my boats.do any of you guys know the best paint to use to paint a boat.

Awl Grip or Alex Seal, both are $$$

I’ve had pretty good success with hthe Petit Easy Poxy. Its not quite as pricey as Awl Grip or Alexseal and holds up pretty well.

Go with the awl grip or emron. The little bit more of a price difference is worth it in the long run. last sooooo much longer and the colors are a lot better. These are epoxy paints and dont require buffing. Awl grip has its own line of care products including awl care wax sealant. This is the number one paint used on mega yachts and there is a reason for it. The guys at Pura Vida boatworks on signal point road in james island have been preping and painting boats with awl grip for years and they come out great. you should see some of the old boston whalers they have refitted. Absolutly beautiful.

thanks guys

I used interlux perfection on my Hewes. It too is a 2-part epoxy, very durable. When I researched awl grip and interlux, the interlux had a few more colors, required one less mixing component and was just a little less pricey. As always with a paint project the prep work is very very important. Also get a good measuring cup and follow the mixing directions to the T. Finally pay close attention to the weather if painting outside, you need no wind, warm weather, low humidity otherwise the paint will not set. If painting inside a repirator is a must. Follow the directions and you should be good.
