Was fishing with my son the other day on the Wando and he hooked into a large fish that had a gar like bill, was olive in color with black spots. He got him to the boat but lost him there. The fish’s bill was about a foot long but the girth on this baby was large. He looked to be about 40 inches long. Anyone got any idea what kind of fish this was? Never have seen one like it before.
most likely a gar, I see quite a few in the 2-3’ range in Bohicket

Nasty gar fish. They are all over, but we see them thick in the Ashley this time of year. Trash fish, dangerous fish to put in the boat especially around kids.
