I dont think the rain will hurt anything. Actually we’ve had very little rain. I’ve been going pretty often and doing well. My freezer it stocked to say the least. The last few trips I’ve been going artificial. I’m tired of buying bait. I’ve caught a few on top water. Thier hitting Pencil Poppers. The towers are on fire. Nice size fish too. I’ve seen the guides coming in very early with limits. I’m going tomorrow morning for a couple of hours to get the morning bite. I hope schools in session. I think I will bring my Daughter tower hopping Monday morning. Let me know if you need anything.
magnawake; what kind of boat are you using? i ahve a 19 seapro cc. 115 yamaha. i have a small american flag on my stern light. i may get up there in the morning. if you need someone to help out every now and then; give me a call. i live about 10 minutes from the dam here in lex.

Thanks Magna,
Yeah we’re getting plenty of rain here in GA, but I was on the phone with my dad (in Cola) and he did say its not as as bad as they thought.
Are they catching those fish at the towers on freelines, downlines, or casting? When you say artificials, do you mean trolling lures, or are ya just casting? Im coming in late saturday, going to church Sunday, but we’ll be out there in full force Sunday afternoon/evening, and Monday morning.
I got my FishFinder working again…actually they had to see me a new one, dern Raymarine DS600 was FULL of water.
Thanks for the info, maybe I’ll catch ya out there.
I’ve been casting for schooling stripers. I hear people are catching large mouth in the same school, to the tune of 6-8 lb fish. I really like seeing the explosion on top. At the towers, the stripers are usually 35-45 ft deep. I have had them follow the herring all the way up to 10 feet before they hit it. I only fish one rod at the time, with me holding it (no rod holders). I constantly move my boat around and move the bait up & down. I would use rod holders if I had them but I’m too cheap to buy them. It’s not a bad idea to cast out a free line though. Alot of people are catching fish on free lines, I just dont like them around the towers. I have a 15’ Bass Tracker with a 35 Merc. I’m sure I’ll see ya out there. Oh yeah, they have been hitting around Spence Islands also. Dont get locked into the towers only. The crowd maybe thick there. Some people are rude too.
Tight Lines (no Gars please)
