What's this??

Caught this guy in a cast net while getting bait. I think it looks like a tiny snook…but I was in NC. I know y’all can ID this for me.
Thanks!

Kill fish

Looks like some kind of wrasse to me

Always called them killys! Never had much luck using them for bait! easy to catch tho,

My number one flounder bait. They’re in the surf at low tide…the little fish that swim around as the wave recedes.

Hey Mdaddy…I always pitched them back as a trash bait…I called ‘em tiger minnows because of the stripes. Once again I’ve learned something new from an experienced fisherman. Thanks for the tip…I’'ll give 'em a try on a flounder rig next time some show up in the net.

That would be "internet" fisherman...according to some.

I specifically get them as bait for a flounder tournament.

I watched a bunch of flounder line up in a creek mouth off the beach, at the top of the tide. When it turned, the killli fish got picked off on the way out…30 years ago.

Mud minnows/finger mullet work…just not as good as a killi fish.

Caught multiple Bull Reds at the Jetties using these one day. They work.

That’s the only bait I catch at the creek I fish. Caught plenty of reds and flounder with them, never any trout.
