I have a '79 20 hp Merc that just “died” a few seasons ago. Used to crank when cold on the 2nd or 3rd pull,but became progressively harder to crank even when warm. Compression appears to be okay. Cord pulls easily. No grinding noises etc. My guess is an electronics issue…maybe power pack. Any other suggestions?
dirty carbs, ethanol brake down in the carb bowl, clean the carbs and i bet it cranks fine!
