What's Up?

I am heading to the Murrells Inlet area next week and I have the wonderful option of bringing one of two boats. I usually bring a 22’ center console and fish the reefs around Murrells inlet (3 mile, Pawleys, 10 mile, etc.). I am thinknig that due to the recent weather and the fact that I am usually down later in the summer, that I might bring the 18 foot jon boat and try my luck in the creeks or inlets. Which would be the better choice for the most action and table fair? Also if the answer is the Jon, where should I go? Winyah, Bulls Bay, Murrells inlet? I would love to target whiting, trout, reds, or flounder.
Are the near shore reefs productive now? What is biting?
I appreciate any advice. I am a freshwater guy except for a few weeks a year. Thank you very much!

The wind has been pretty tough the last few weeks. I would look at the 10 day forecast to figure out which boat to bring.

How familiar are you with the areas that you are thinking about fishing? If you have never fished these areas before, they can be very tricky, but very good fishing. Winyah Bay and Bulls Bay can both get pretty rough with the right wind. Also both can leave you high and dry with the right or should I say wrong tide.

Get a good fishing map and start studying the map and looking at google earth or some other satelite imagery.

The weather and water temps have been crazy and as you have read on this site, fishing has been a little off, but if you can find them, the fish are still biting. Get out there and try it.
