have not seen any reports on striper fishing in a week. has everybody quit? that cannot be. i see too many boats out there. just wondering. hope to give it a shot early next week. got a busy weekend coming up with group of friends from darlington for some professional beer drinking ; lying; and very amateurish golfing. should be a blast.

I was out last thursday and only caught 1 keeper and probably 8 or 10 shorts.

We have been hitting the rocks on the Irmo side walking the bank. We are averaging 10-12 daily (weekends) with 1-3 being keepers. Using freshly-netted herring under rattle corks.

I wish I would have brought my stuff to work so I could go tonight. I seem to do good at the dam with an east wind. But I’ll never get home, to the boat and then to LW in time. I couldn’t get any bait to the light the last time out. Looking at the forecast i will probably go next thursday. Considering getting up at like 3am saturday morning and fishing till 9 or 10. Get off before all the idiots show up.
Steely heads up, the optimist club has its poker run starting at 9am. get off the water before that.

With that being said along with all the other problems on the lake I am going to stick to week days. The lake is just not safe on weekends.
Every agency that has a boat and access to boats will be out there this weekend, plus DNR Cessna will be patroling. This poker run is a great fundraiser, but there are always some bad apples in the group.

Good to hear you catching them on the bank. i tried that several times when my old boat was broke down and never got more than a couple cats. Where are you netting herring?
The little pier in the SCE&G park on the Irmo side has been covered up with herring at first light for the last 3 weeks. I have to be careful to hit the edges of the schools. Had one errant net toss last week yield 300 (yes, I counted!). I have learned not to throw too far from the bank before I can see what’s in the area.
