When do the kings show up?

I just started fishing for them last summer and can’t wait to get out there again. I’ve been as far as Comanche, but typically I am limited to closer in with my small boat. From looking at last years posts, it looks like they started showing up close inshore (jetties/shipping channel) about the last week of May. Is that pretty typical?

yes

Hey striperskiff, I am like you I just have a 21 ft. Chris - Craft so most of my fishing is 15 miles or less. My experience in the past is that the kings come in pretty thick around May 10 -June 10 when the spanish are so thick you can walk on them 2 to 5 miles out. A buddy of mine won the Wrightsville Beach king tournament 3 years ago on a 5lb. spanish fishing it under a kite rig. I have seen many kings skyrocket through large spanish schools this time of the year.Look forward to seeing you out there this year. Keep in touch. Wayne Miller
