Where and when to fish

Hello to all. This is my first post being new to the forum and also new to Charleston. What will be my best bet for inshore (pier or surf) fishing at the time and places to try. I am in Mt Pleasant.

Thanks!

Welcome to the site! Seeing as how you are already in Mt. P try the Mt. P pier…take you some fresh frozen/cut shrimp and mullet and soak it on bottom with a Carolina rig and you’ll likely catch a spottail, trout and maybe even a flatty. People fish that pier year round with fluctuating luck but it would be a great starting point for you. Get out there and give it a go!

slowpitch,
Stump is spot-on, the Mt P Pier is awesome. Do a search for “Jiggin Jerry” on youtube for lots of tips about fishing the pier. He just spoke at our fishing club and did a great job.

I see a lot of people surf fishing in front of Fort Moultrie, people fishing the Pitt Street Bridge, Shem Creek Park and Breach Inlet.

Great guys thanks! It’s ok to fish at Fort Moultrie? Thought it wasn’t an open area for public fishing. I will definitely give these spot a try.

I see people surf fishing on Sullivan’s Island in and around that area. I mentioned Fort Moultrie as a reference point. Go by Haddrell’s Point Tackle on Ben Sawyer Blvd. they will help with some tips. It is located beside Royall Ace Hardware.
