What do you mean by safely? If the harbor is smooth you can go there. Folly River is full of them. Breach’s Inlet too. Feel like ive even seen people out at the jetties in a boat that size.

Is there any size to the ones at folly

3-4 ft bonnets are everywhere. Can catch some big boys around the stono inlet. Although it can be trickier to navigate.

i mean i want to catch sharks not so far off shore id be to nervous. to enjoy it and i thank you for the advice never ben salt water fishing need all the help i can get

Go to the entrance of a creek onto folly river. Low tide is usually best in my experience. Throw out a chunk of blue crab on your hook. Bound to catch a bonnet. Can find them not far from the ramp.

gona try sunday if the weathers good what ramp should i launch at

Any creek mouth is a good spot for bonnet or really any shark, they seem to love 6" mullet and blue crab halves, caught my biggest one on a whole blue crab last year.

Go to the creek mouths closer towards the stono inlet fish different creek mouth in there. Bonnetheads like shallow water as well. Fish with blue crab to locate them once you got a spot you can use shrimp menhaden mullet and pinfish

ive got a 17/54 lowe rough neck 2001 with a 70 Johnson rigged out and I take it to the three mile off of murrells inlet on the right days it bobs like a cork great boat handles rough water pretty (**() good but pic my days due to wind and tide. but you can hook up with a fish bigger than the boat at any time.dont know what fish you are targeting but you can just hang on for one hell of a ride. good luck if you hook up with a 20 plus foot tiger. just keep a good sharp knife handy to cut line either way good luck and real tight lines

Dear Matt…That is a very versatile rig you’ve got. I ran one for years…rusted 1 trailer out from underneath it before I sold it. I strongly recommend that you put some sort of depth recorder on the boat so you can find deep holes to fish in. You don’t need to go all GPS, fish finder, etc. It helps, but depth is the #1 consideration. There are numerous “shark holes” in the area, and you would be best served to find the ones closet to your landing, but if you don’t mind trailering your boat around and maybe paying a landing fee, you’ve got choices. 1 slam dunk area is the intracoastal waterway behind DeWees Island at mile marker 110. This area has an inlet from the ocean nearby, and the currents have scoured out a deep hole that holds sharks in the heat of the summer. These same scenarios are repeated elsewhere, and the theme is DEEP…so you’ve got the see it on the depth recorder. Bottom fish with a fish finder rig, 3-4oz of weight, and wire leader with a circle hook. Fresh bait(throw the cast net!!), bloody bait, and put a chum bag on the bottom. Plan on cutting a few loose at the side of the boat!
