where do you go to weigh a fish for state record

Having caught a state record fish ( see edisto post ), but not knowing it. I am wondering if that happens again in my lifetime ( not likely ) where would I take the fish for weigh in? anyone know.

Any certified scale

Grocery store, seafood market, etc.

Need witnesses of catch and an unassociated witness to the weighing.

Make sure to have a witness, and make sure the scale has a USDA sticker on it.

It is nice to know that Sellsfish has a certified scale. Most good tackle shops will do the same and usually have the necessary forms on had for the master angler program and state record program. I got 2 SC Master Angler Certificates in years past, John’s weighed and certified my redfish and Haddrel’s certified my trout. The program is still going on as far as I know and the certificates are very nice…am very proud of both of them. I need one for flounder now but the big boys have not cooperated lately.

Paul, do you have the state record and master angler forms in your store? I am feeling lucky! LOL!

I just talked to Shante’ at the Trident. We are going to fill out the paperwork to become a weigh station. We are open until 8:00pm, and have a heavy scale that can do 200#. We should have our paperwork complete next week.
