I am trying to squeeze in as much fishing in other destinations as possible before having children. In the last 4 or 5 years I have fished Costa Rica, Bermuda, Islamorada, Captiva Island/Boca Grande, Sandy Beach Louisana, Annapolis, Mosquito Lagoon, Palm Beach, etc. On some trips with my wife we hired an overpriced guide and let the crew do all the work and on other trips I prefer to research the area and techniques, ship my tackle there, and rent a boat. Thats what a somewhat inexperienced college buddy and I did last year at Captiva Island and still managed trout, reds, and a 120 # tarpon on Memorial Day weekend.
I plan to keep the trip as economy as I can - budget rental car or shuttle, budget motel (safe), budget boat rental, etc. I plan to fly somewhere Friday night before Memorial Day, fish Sat and Sun and fly back Monday. I am leaning toward Islamorada, but we’d like to try somewhere new. Sorry for the book - just looking for suggestions / ideas. Thanks!
