The population of bass in Marion and Moultrie isn’t as high as you would think, mainly because of the hydrilla eradication program. DNR will tell you otherwise, based on shocking studies…but their results are skewed because of where they shock.
The fish are going to group in specific areas to spawn. If you aren’t in those areas, you’re going to have limited luck.
There will be another batch moving upduring the next couple of weeks. If you want to fish for spawners, you may have better luck putting your trolling motor on high, and cruise around looking for beds.
Your other option will be to fish outside of spawning areas, hitting some prespawners coming in, and post spawners going out. Throw a crankbait or carolina rig.
