Where to buy kayak patch/repair kit.?

A bad crack needs repaired, who sells a patch or kit around here? I do not want to have to take it to a shop again.

Harbor Freight. Plastic welding kit will do polyethylene boats. Head to the auto parts store for a fiberglass kit if you have a glass boat

can I get by with the $14.99 one?

yes. 80 watts is plenty of power for the job. I’d suggest that you practice on a trash can to develop a feel for the work. No sense putting the learning process on your yak

Thanks tb

They have some epoxies for plastics at WestMarine. xxxxx60? not sure the first part of the name but they cut a yak in half with a chainsaw on ShipShapeTV and glued it back - tossed it off an overpass - held.

WestSystems G-Flex for plastic kayaks is the bomb! You can pick it up at west marine.

WestSystems G-Flex looks like some cool stuff. Only thing is the coloring. I suppose you could always paint with plastic paint if color bothered you.

I used a heat gun (harbor freight) and piece of the kayak left over from installing rod holders to repair some cracks in my kayak. I smoothed and blended it the best I could, but it’s never going to be a perfect match.

I know this is an old post, but I’m about to repair a crack in the bottom of my malibu x-factor and it seemed relevant. I’ve got some g/flex epoxy. Plan is to drill the ends of the crack, clean, hit with a torch and use the epoxy. Should I also add a few layers of fiberglass cloth or is the epoxy enough? Should I fill from both the bottom and top (inside hull)? The crack occurred where I’ve dragged it over many years. Thanks.
