Where to catch cownose rays

Anyone know where I can snag a cownose ray? I keep fish as a hobby and try to catch my fish in my tank. (1500 gallon system) also enjoy fishing. Is there any regulations on keeping them or season? I’m here for the week

I don’t believe there are any restrictions BUT, you may want to check out the regs on the SC Dept. of Natural Resources website. I have caught many southern stingrays and, I have seen the Cownose rays but, I don’t recall ever having caught one except once when casting for shrimp.

I checked and I don’t believe there’s restrictions. But looking to see if I can snag one

Or will pay someone for catching me one

How big’a gal you looking for? How will you transport it?

I think they eat crustations like oysters and clams, a grown one will eat a pound of stuff a day, and even a small young one is a lot for 1500 gallons Id think.

A brand new baby ray is over a foot wide, one that can survive Id think would need to be 2-3 feet wide, or over a year old. Then they get bigger obviously.

In my best JAWS voice (the movie)… . …Your gonna need a bigger tank

Unless I’m missing something, that’s a pretty big undertaking.

They transport very well really big cooler with an aerator and they’ll be fine many hours. The tank I have is 12ft round. Not square. I feed silversides(finger minnows) and chunky squid to all my other rays, sharks, eels and groupers. Been doing this for years.

They don’t have teeth to crab clams and oysters. I own multiple other rays
