I’ve been going crazy not catching anything on the Stono so I’m thinking of venturing out. After research I was thinking of putting it at Bowens Island, Copahee Sound, Wando, or Folly Landing. Any recommendations on which area has the best chance of catching this time of year? Not looking for spots just general areas that seem to produce in the summer.
I’m trying to determine if the stono has no fish or if I’m just horrible at inshore. I’ve probably fished it 10 times and only seem to catch a buzz.
Gonna fish with, MM, Schrimp, and maybe some artificials DOA, Zoom.
If you tried that much and haven’t caught anything, maybe your doing something wrong.

Well I live on the stono and I’m lazy, so I just kayak to the spots I can hit easily. Coburg Creek, Docks, Wappoo Cut, Docks. I’m thinking that those spots may just not be producing this time of year?
I’ve fished every tide imagionable in that area with every inshore tecnique that haddrells has recommended. I’m a pretty experienced inshore and offshore fisherman from florida so I know the basics atleast.
I think It’s safe for me to assume that this area of the river is just not that good for catching. Low salinity, poor visibility, too shallow, I dunno? I dont see any good reports from around there, ever. My neighbors all seem to go elsewhere to fish too.
I know people who think Coburg’s pretty good but all I catch is dog fish and small fish. A little further down the river if you face the water from the river-land terrace boat landing across the river to the left by the rocks is decent and further downs where the Wappo meets the Stono is good for big reds but has lots of boat traffic huge sting rays and hang ups. If you put out at Bowen’s the first dock to the right is good especially the corner by the river mouth, and that creek is also good. It has a barge that sank and blocks most of the river and holds sheep heads, and the whole river is loaded with oyster mounds so if you never been back there but decide to go at low tide to be safe.

Yea, I have fished where the wappoo meets the stono and it is insane. Big boats shake my anchor and throw me too the rocks. That is if I can even get accross the channel to fish by the hurricane sign.
I’m fishing Copahee Sunday AM. Should be a decent morning for getting after them in the grass.
Going to put in at Bowens tomorrow morning. PM me if you care to join.
