Thinkin towards 226. looks like (as of monday) there is/was a warm finger of water in that vicinity…any thoughts? and yes, I know “nice report”.
meant to say (as of wednesday)…
Thinking about taking a 20’ CC out to the 226 hole on Saturday looking for dolphin. Forecast calling for winds variable/diminishing to 10 knots or less, seas 2-4ft. Are we crazy?
beadYES! captruss24, STAY HOME I REPEAT STAY HOME! Just kidding! Your biggest problem will be trying to fish around all the boats at the 226. I say drop lines at 140" and go from there.Good Luck - also how much gas do you carry?
We will be out there in a 2020 Key West too
going 100 /400
Follow the fleet straight out and South. Drop lines in 150’ or at 77 degree water. Troll. Fill box with yellow and green fish. Drink cold adult beverages. Head to the hill. Repeat.
90 gallons. Would prefer not using all of it if we are averaging 2.5mpg. How many nm off Charleston do we need to run to hit 150-200’ of water? Will be looking for warmer waters, birds, grass, lumber…anything that will indicate fish!!

One must travel 80 miles due East to find such grounds

Captruss, Are you crazy? Taking a 20’ CC that far out is insane!! At least that’s what people tell me. I run my little ole Pioneer 197 to the Edisto Banks and to the SW Banks on good days. I’d say about 30nm to get to the depths you are talking about. As far as the the floating stuff, head SSE @ 157 for approx 48nm. There, you will find a floating pallet:smiley:. Just kidding, But that is about the direction I will be heading if I make it out. I won’t quite make the 226 but I’ll probably make Edisto Banks. I hold about 75 gallons of fuel and only burn a little over half a tank when I go to the EB. You should be fine as long as the weather cooperates. Do you have an EPIRB?

We’ll be heading about 150 once we clear those rock things at the mouth of the harbor. Lines in around 250’. Good luck to yall out there, WX is looking great with small swells and 10 kts of wind…“you’ll be fine”, heard that one before?
Forgot to add: Great Report!
367 ft., 78 degree water just beyond edisto banks. we crushed em there yesterday
You’ll only find about 80-95’ of water 30 miles out.
