Where to fish with a yak

Hello all!

I got a yak a few weeks ago and have spent a lot of time out on the water. I’ve done some fishing with no luck. Any suggestions as to where to go around James Island or the Mount Pleasant area? Also - been thinking about rowing to work from James Island to Mount Pleasant. I work at the Moultrie News near the Ben Sawyer Bridge. If I launch from Wappoo Creek is this a feasable row? Any tips are appreciated!

I fish from the folly river and have had pretty good luck in their. Let me know if you want to get together and go.

Launching from Wappo Creek means that you’ll be paddling through wappoo cut and the current reall rips through there at times. It’s also about a 7- 1/2 or 8 mile paddle one way from Wappoo Creek to the Ben Sawyer bridge and you’ll be crossing Charleston Harbor.

You may be able to do it, but think about safety first. Make sure you can be seen and heard. Remember that when you are under way, you do not automatically have the right of way.

I’ve paddled some in the harbor and it really wasn’t enjoyable. wind blown chop, waves, tides, boat wakes,… It all added up to some lousy paddling conditions. Some times you get out there and it’s great, just not very often. It is fun to surf the wakes from the container ships though.

So much water, So little time

fishless…let me know the next time you go. i would like to check out some of the folly area. i know there are some good flats hiding in the creek…

If it’s fish you want, stay away from Paradise in the North Wando. No fish there. Move along. Nothing to see hear. Don’t even bother trying.:smiley::smiley:
I’ve heard they all left Copahee too.
