I think I am going to play hooky Wednesday and drag my yak down to the Holy City and soak some bait. Trying to decide on the Paradise area or behind Sullivan’s Island as those are the only kayak friendly areas I am familiar with. Have not seen reports from either area in the last week or so. Any input?
Can’t speak to Sullivans or Paradise, but up until last weekend, Bushy Park was doing real well for me. There are gators out there (as well as coyote galore, but they don’t like to swim lol). Still, a great place for a paddle. PM me if you’d like some more suggestions.
You can find it exactly using Google Earth, just look for Bushy Park, Goose Creek, SC (even Google Maps online should do it). It’s in an out-of-the-way place.
On one side of the road (the side with nearly no parking) is the brackish side where you can net mullet and shrimp, and fish for reds/flounder/trout.
The other side of the road is mostly freshwater (bass, catfish, etc), although bass and cats are a possibility even on the brackish side.
Put your boat in the brackish side and park across the street in the main parking lot on the freshwater side. Beware the water depth at low tide, it’s extremely shallow. Larger boats struggle to get out of there if the tide is at bottom-dead-center.
Thanks, I found it. I will definitely add Bushy to my list and had planned to try it tomorrow but, my wife has given me a task that requires me to go into Mt. P.
Hey DFreedom I fished Sullivans on Sunday. I put in at Pitt street and went over to behind the houses and found some fish got a 20" red to the boat. Three got off the hook and one broke off. Saw a small school along Ben Sawyer Blvd on the Sullivans side of about 8 to 10 fish hooked one but he got of the hook. So they are out there all caught on live finger mullet.

Watching the weekend weather forecast and hoping for not too much wind. Want to do one more family boat outing as the wife stops going out once it gets cold (below 75). As for yak fishing tomorrow, I’ll probably flip a coin in the morning and decide whether to go to Paradise or behind Sullivan’s.
I have only parked there 3 times now but never had any problems. There has always been a couple more vehicles there in addition to mine. Seems like a fairly well used ramp. It is a beautiful area with a lot of places to fish.
