I think most people are bringing them with them from the upstate or are buying them upstate and keeping them at the house till time to use.
I tried for over an hr today (that’s alot of throwing the net…lol…)and the biggest thing i caught was a 20" striper in the net. Caught alot of thread fins that were big enough to use but no gizzards.
From what I have been told they are not easy to catch on murray. Also from what I have read and been told today would have been the absolute perfect conditions for them to be caught. After a good rain, muddy water, and on leafy-muddy bottom and in the areas people generally catch them and i got nothing…
As soon as seahunt0012 and I get our house tank going i will probably make a day of going and buying some or riding up to wateree to catch some. Heard they are very plentiful in certain areas up there…

Ok makes sense. Let me know if you need a hand when you go back I have a 30 gallon super bait tank II and a 20 gallon just like it. The v20 has a nice casting deck as well…
edited to say 30 gallon, responded on phone while at the bar…and the phone thought gallon=question

Look for them spitting on the surface. I can’t say for sure that gizzards actually do this, but in my days fishing on Wylie, we’d motor up into a cove gently and look for water spitting, and I’d toss the net where I saw the spit closest. Almost invariably I’d catch a good half dozen gizzards of good size, which was enough for a few hours of cut bait for catfish.
Anyone else ever see gizzards flicking the surface? It may not have been them and just a coincidence, but it would be a bit of an odd one.
Yep. I have observed them spitting and flickering on the surface. My experience is I have be in range when they breach and throw immediately. They are not easy at all to catch on LM.
