I would like to participate in the scdnr tagging program and I cannot find anywhere to buy the gun. If anyone knows where to get one please let me know. Thanks!

I think Haddrells stocks them? Give em a ring. Otherwise, google is your friend.

Screamingdrag, we normally stock them but at the moment we are out of stock. If you would like to call our store at 843.881.3644 we can get your name and number and call you when we receive more.

Yep, Haddrels, and the tagging gun is for smaller fish. Once you turn in a tag or two with the tagging gun ( T bar tags ) DNR will give you the dart tags and the applicator for them for the bigger fish.

Thanks for the help! I received my gun and few weeks ago and tagged my first red this weekend.

I just caught my first tagged Red this past Saturday. I reported it to DNR, waiting to see the info they send me about it’s history.
One Simple Thanks!!

No, caught it on the Ashley. This one had been tagged for a little while. I had to scrape green crud off of the tag with my finger nail so I could read it.

Good work and welcome to the club! I recently had one I tagged in the Wando get caught at HHI. That was cool! Usually they will live most all of their subadult lives within a mile or two.

I’m glad to be able to give back to the resource. That’s interesting that the fish moved that far. I wonder what causes them to pick up and move all of a sudden??

FYI screaming they like you to put those “T bar” tags in fish up to 27 inches. DNR wants you to use dart tags on larger fish. After you turn in a couple T bar tags DNR will send you the dart tags and the applicator if you need and request them.
