If you could fly somewhere and have to be back in three days or so, where would it be. My wife wants to go somewhere in aug and we dont have a lot of time due to families coming in throughout the summer and babysitting, but we just want to get a way for a few just to relax?
Can a cross-eyed teacher control his pupils?
Wherever the NASCAR race is that weekend.
He took the bait like a jugbelly redfish on an olive and white clouser.
Bermuda.
Not too hot in August; not too far away; slow pace.

Nantucket is really nice in August. Quick flight too.
Hell as hot as it is here it’s probably cooler around the equator. Provided there are no big storms brewing you could prolly get a deal in the USVI. I love places like that in the offseason.
Green Turtle Cay = RELAX
“To preserve liberty it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.” – Senator Richard Henry Lee, 1788
New York City…non stop flight, see a couple of shows, eat some expensive food, drink some expensive booze, catch an MLB game, dress like a redneck so all the yankees will point and laugh. Stay in Times Square area…more to see and do within walking distance then you could do in a month.
Actually, NYC is not really my cup of tea…but my wife has dragged me there twice in the last few years and it was a totally good time. Take the helicopter tour, the best money you will ever spend. First trip we went first class train to Boston…great ride and super service, however the tourist part of Boston is pretty much like Charleston…but the train ride was reelly good.
I hear they even have striper and blues fishing in the harbor.

NYC in August-HOT!
Good news is all the residents leave for the beaches or upstate.

And where would it not be hot in August???

If you’ve only got a weekend, I’d suggest Asheville, NC. Lots of cool shops, good music scene, The Biltmore (fyi: the place doesn’t have ac), day hikes and great mountain biking. I also really enjoy Boone and Blowing Rock in the summer. Its a good break from the charleston heat, and the mountains full of things to do for a weekender.

Bermuda. See above.

Always wanted to go to Bermuda…but it seemed to me like it was a touch formal. Last time I looked a fair amount of restaurants required slacks and some jackets. Is that true??? Same thing happened in the Bahamas some years ago…went to a resort and once there learned the top restaurants required a jacket.
