Where to locate batteries in a boat

Thanks to everyone who responded to my previous lengthy post with questions about toys for a new boat. I will try to keep this post shorter.

Based on the ■■■■■■■■ I received, I am going to get a 36V Minnkota trolling motor. Question I have now is whether I should install the 3 batteries in the center console or in the back of the boat? It would seem to me the boat might plane and ride better if the batteries were put in the console. (Perhaps there will not be a noticeable difference with a 22.5 foot boat.) However, the batteries would be easier to maintain in the back of the boat and I guess they would get bounced around less (and maybe last longer) if they were installed in the back of the boat. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I would go with AGM Glass Matt they are totally sealed and will stand more vibration than other batteries. Get the centerline weight of your boat from the MFG[include the motor] that should help you deside , make sure you consider where bait tanks will be and there capacity also fuel weight.

X2 on the AGM’s. I run 2 group 27’s I think. Haven’t looked at them in awhile. They might be 31’s…ha… anyway I got these batteries from a medical supply store, only went there because had a buddy working there and got a good deal. These batteries were designed for a wheelchair. They are designed to be drained slow just like a TM will do to them. Also got a 24v wheelchair charger to charge them. Could not be happier with them. My next boat will have a 36v and I will do the same.

As far as placement I have a very light 21’ aluminum boat. I had to move batteries, fuel tank, bait tank etc around a couple times till I found the right places for all. Donnie is right on with getting your center line and go from there. Wish I could have done that but I have chopped and replaced/moved so much on mine it wouldn’t have mattered even if the manufacturer still had any info on my 1980 model…ha
