Family coming to town. Last year a few got sick when we went offshore. Leaving from City marina I would like to take a leisurely cruise around Charleston waterways. Suggestions?
If it’s a nice day, you could cruise out past Castle Pinckney then to Fort Sumter, then cross over to Shem Creek and idle up the creek, lots of pretty shrimp trawlers and restaurants, then head over to the Yorktown and under the Cooper River Bridge, loop around, and cruise past the maritime center, waterfront park and the battery, then dock back at the city marina. Should be a nice round trip cruise with lots of sights to see

Exactly the type of info I was looking for. Thank you
You could always idle up shem creek, tie up at the "new"county park dock and walk over to the restaurants on shem creek… The exact trip I am planning with my family!!

Or head the opposite way and go up the Ashley and go see the plantations on Hwy 61 from the water. There are a couple spots up this way to anchor up and wade around to cool off. The sandbars up the Ashley are more families and less the keg party/hip-hop club than Morris Island or the Stono sandbar @ Limehouse. You’ve got plenty of water until you get to the public boat landing in Summerville then it gets pretty skinny.
If you decide to head this way let me know if you have any specific questions.
