Which Boat Ramp

I am finally bringing the boat down on Monday from Maryland. I will be keeping her in North Charleston and was wondering what the best boat ramp to use to get me off shore is. The boat is a 25ft walkaround. I pull her with a ram 3500 dually. So looking for a place that has a good ramp, lot of parking, and that is easy to maneuver. I am going to try and make a run to the ledge if there is a weather window next Thursday or Friday. Thanks for all your help.

where in N chas is the big question

County Farm landing off of Leeds Ave. Go down 526 and take the last exit before crossing the Ashly River( Leeds Ave ) 2 good ramps/docks and lots of parking. Kind of a long but nice run to the harbor! Go to the top of this page and look under the Resources tab. Gives you a map and description of all area boat ramps.

Yep, hard to beat if you’re in N. Chuck. I live a little ways up Dorchester so for me, the extra time to the harbor by boat is pretty much a wash vs the extra drive time and PITA to go to another landing closer to the ocean. It’s about 30 min from the landing to the open harbor, depending how fast you’re cruising the river and really how fast your “idle” speed through the city marina no wake zone is! Ramp is rarely crowded, at least not if you leave early. Can get crazy mid-day on a nice weekend, but still better than most! If you are there early, try to get a parking spot you can pull through - there are a few at the ends of the rows. The lanes are a little narrow to back/turn a long rig if you’ve got people parked close on both sides.

Thanks for the help guys. I am transfering to the area from Maryland/DC and start my job at the FLETC Center which I am told is the Former Naval base. They have storage on site for the boat. Easy and Wolfie thanks for your help. I did look at that map, but was still hard to tell where the nice ramps are. I don’t know the waters so may look at something a little closer to the harbor for this first trip. Up here I try to get offshore twice a month which is a 2.5 hour drive to OCMD so trailering 30 minutes to get closer to the harbor is not a big deal. Have yet to be offshore this year and need to scratch the itich with a quick trip. Thanks for all you help guys. Hopefully when I get settled down there I can replay the favor.

cobia256! You might look around on the Navy base! I’m sure they had one there when the base was active. Won’t hurt to ask someone! If there is one there, you can’t get much closer to the harbor than that. I would think that if there is boat storage, there is a ramp, somewhere around?

Remley’s in Mt Pleasant. Pretty much a straight run offshore right up the shipping channel.

if you have DOD access, CAFB has a nice boat/RV storage lot, $35/mo… usually a long wait list but well worth trying to get in! But heck, if you can store it for free at work that’s hard to beat. Hopefully it’s a secured area, the old navy base isn’t exactly the nicest part of N. Charleston…

yeah, Remley’s is probably your best bet to get straight out there, it’s a nice ramp, plenty of dock space. I’ve used it a few times, but I keep coming back to the ramp at 526 for the low stress as much as the convenient drive.
