It’s actually not flat bottomed at all. The “shallow water” series Xpress (not Bay series) is more of a traditional flat bottom. I understand the capabilities of me and my boat, but thanks anyway.
Thanks for not letting me down, Hoppy. I was waiting for your “you don’t need blah, blah, blah to catch fish” post. I can’t wait for you to post pictures of you in your dug-out canoe (hand dug, of course) hand-lining wahoo on the ledge after having navigated there with only a sextant and the stars. I appreciate you’re confident in your skills and abilities in the saltwater fishing arena but that doesn’t mean you need to go from thread to thread looking for people asking for advice and then contributing nothing but negative comments about the advice given. As has been covered in other threads you’ve contributed to in this manner, it’s not a matter of looking for what I “need” to go out and catch fish. That said, I will arm myself with as much relevant Intel from people I’ve grown to trust here on CF as I possibly can. When making any decision in life, you can’t have enough GOOD information at your disposal. It’s not up to you to determine how much information, data, or INTEL a person needs or can use.
I didn’t ask anyone to tell me what I DON’T need. I started this thread to gather information. People were kind enough to give me some. It’s up to me to figure out which to use, how to use it, and what I need, not you.
You probably wouldn’t go fishing without your phone, would you??
That’s pretty cool hoppy, I’m guessing when the chairs are rocking by themselves is not a good time for small boats. lol No kidding, thanks hoppy, didn’t know that feed existed.
Pretty cool link. Blowin so hard right now it looks like there’s a ghost in the chair rocking away.
Picking a good weather day at the jetties isn’t rocket science, but by the same token there are a lot of variables in fishing the jetties. basically if the weather is decent, give it a shot. That is really the only way to tell for sure. I was out near the jetties today when it was supposed to be snotty, and there were areas that were calm. There is no bouy in existence that is going to give you much relevant information on conditions at the jetties. Nearshore, use magicseaweed and reefcast with extra wave info. Be aware that bouys only give primary swell
The beauty of that camera is it’s real time and visual. You know whats happenin’ right now. The only time it can be deceptive is when the wind is coming from dead west. The trees can block it a little. That’s why I look at the weather station out on the pier too, which is also real time.
Pro Tip* If you ever see the flags removed from the flagpoles - Leave the cover on your yacht and go to the store and get something to cook low and slow in the crock pot that day. BC you probably ain’t hitting the aqua that day.
Check out Hoppy’s go to camera this morning: chairs rocking, swings swinging, flags straight out, and whitecaps everywhere. Must be a crockpot kind of day.
