How about a little advice? I’m moving to Columbia after being away from the state for 20 years, very excited, but need to explore dry dock options in CHS. Currently living near Savannah GA.
I have a 24 Skeeter with no t-top, fish mostly inshore and occasional reef. Which dry dock marina (relatively close to Columbia) would be my best bet?
Don’t know about any marinas close to Columbia. But in Charleston, there’s plenty of options for dry stack storage. Dolphin cove, Ripley’s, and there’s one near Leed’s ave landing, just to name a few.
Just went through this in the Charleston area and there are two things to keep in mind. 1st space is virtually non-existent and therefore prices are representative of the supply available. I priced it out where I could and they all were right around $20.00/ft per month for a 12 month lease. I also have no T-Top and I ended up at Simmons Marina on Shem creek. Great group of people but I think they are full.
Second thing to remember is where these dry stacks are… a couple are in let’s say interesting neighborhoods.
Rivers Edge Marina ; probably the most accessible via I-526 on the Ashley River , extremely good people and an outstanding facility IMO , can’t speak to available room they may/maynot have…Give em a call…843-554-8901 good luck!!!

Is your boat on a trailer and you just need a place to store it? If so, do you have a tow vehicle that you could use to hook up and launch it? If you answer “yes” to these questions, then it will open up many more options between Columbia and Charleston. You would just need to figure out how close to the water or boat ramp you want or need to be.
Or do you need a dry stack marina? If so, as mentioned above, your options dwindle considerably due to availability.

$20/ft…is about average (usually at 25ft minimum as well)!!! been looking every year when lease comes up, I can’t find anything less than $550 a month that is near the harbor anyways. DI marina is fare priced and has some good people there, price is very reasonable, but its a bit of a ride to the harbor.
I’m in Daniel Island Marina and no complaints at all and at $15.00 a foot, I consider that a bargain compared to others I’ve looked at. May have to go on a waiting list though. But worth looking into
Make sure when you call around you remind them you have no T-Top. I had mentioned this when shopping around and one place was saying they had no room and I reminded him (a second time) I had no T-Top and he was like “Oh yeah I can fit you in then”
