WHITE BASS ON LAKE WATEREE

Can someone please tell me the best time of year to catch White Bass schooling in the Wateree State Park area of Lake Wateree(near Longtown)? I remember catching them in good quantities when I used to go there but that was some 25 years ago. I have the opportunity to take my boat and spend a week at a lake house there so I want to try to pick the best possible week to catch some White Bass or Stripers.

Thanks to anyone who has a chance to reply,

Homey

Anybody got anything to share on that? I’ve never caught white bass. What’s the big secret to catching them besides finding them? I heard they are fond of crappie jigs.

I really can’t help much, because this is all from memory (about 2-3 years ago), but I have had success about this time of year fishing with small shallow-diving crank baits (shad raps and such). Used mostly silver/blue colors. Fish in 5-15 feet of water. When you find one, there is normally a school and others in the same area.

I know there is one place that is a church camp on the lake with a big cross right on the water in the back of a cove where we have done fairly well. That was a terrible sentence. It’s a sight catching fish Sunday morning while they are having bible study outside.

Wish I could be of more help, but I haven’t been up there in a long time.
