Has anyone caught white bass this year?
I caught 4 one Saturday last November while perch jerkin around Buffalo Creek. They were all around a pound or so. Haven’t encountered any since, but there are a few still in the lake.

Man, they have realy made a come back on Greenwood! I think they ate all the stripers! We have caught some nice ones on live shad and on topwater while schooling.
Thanks, Fogman. That’s good to know. I caught some around an island in Camping Creek chasing shad last year. Released them all, of course.
As a youth, white bass were my favorite target. We’d slay em on spoons, roostertails, and lil’ fishies. That goes for Murray, Monticello, and the rivers. However, the perch have taken over the habitat. I’m not complaining, because I do enjoy perch jerkin’. It’s just a special treat to catch a white bass once in a while.

I can remember schools of white bass that you could idle into. The schools were so big that only the ones nearest to you would temporarily go down. The rest of them would just keep on schooling. I’m sure some of those schools would have covered an acre or more. We would throw a topwater bait with a small jig trailing about 18" behind it and many times catch two at a time.
