Took the kids down to Charleston for Memorial Day weekend for some fun fishing and the whiting wore us out. We caught them in the boat, on the beach and even when we were sleep.I know out of 4 days down we caught over 120 but of coarse threw alooooot of them back. Didnt want to do alot of cleaning and plus we was just fishing for fun. But also caught a few sea trout, pompano, sting rays and a few small sharks. ALSOOO we caught something on the hook that I never knew you could on a double rig, Starfish. Can someone please explain that.Is that normal in Charleston.
I have never caught a starfish before! Sounds like a lot of fun! for kids catching anything is exciting!

A starfish? Now that’s awesome and that can’t happen often I wouldn’t think! Good stuff

Did you catch tne pompano in the surf? Did you get more whiting in the river, or in the surf?
Glad to hear you put the kids on some fish. Bet they were loving it.

Good deal, GF! I bet the kids are “hooked” for life (pun intended)! How’s the boat treatin’ you?

Hey pitcher my son caught it while we was fishing in the boat near the lighthouse
Heard that you have to have a real light rod and line to catch star fish. They have a very gentle bite.

Good deal.
I’ve only been fortunate enough to catch a few scattered pompano over the years, always in the surf in the E end of Folly. Haven’t been yet this year, hoping to get a chance one of these days, hopefully with a favorable tide.
