I was coming back from gettin oysters yesterday at Toogoodo landing and some guys were taking out the same time as me. I asked em if they did any good with the fish? One guy told me they tore up the whiting. I never fished for em this time of the year, just wondering if anyone else does?
This is one of the best times of the year to catch them, especially the bigger ones. The easiest way to find them is to look for the “Glastron Fleet” in and around the inlets, out in front of the beaches, or in the harbor on the edge of the channel. Fish on the bottom. Don’t stay in one spot too long if you aren’t getting bites. Move around and try different depths. They may be a little deeper, especially after this cold snap. If you use cut shrimp, peel them before baiting the hook. Once you find them, you should be able to catch all you want. Sometimes, if you find a little bit of bottom structure, you’ll catch a mess of grey trout.
