whiting

Anyone had any luck catching nice size whiting. Bringing a friend down with me this weekend and he loves whiting. Want to put him on some so he can get his share of some… Will be in the Folly area.

surf fish double drop rigs, 2-3 oz pyramid sinker with small hooks and small pieces of peeled fresh shrimp about 1 inch in size. That should get you into the whiting. finding ones of size is more luck.

Thanks bonecrusher… Yeah I will be on my boat targeting them for him but targeting flounder and sheepheads for me.

Owner and Gamakatsu make some really strong really tiny hooks, number 6 or 8? maybe, that don’t bend and dont miss small mouths. Great for croaker and whiting

No matter how many variables I have control over, I never expect a bite. I only hope.

Yelp RoddyBuilt, I have to find me a good hook to use. The ones I used last time were bending and snapping…

Fish either side of the folly river or lighthouse inlet or stono inlet. Stay in about 13 to 14 feet depth off the bank and you will find lots of whiting . 50 % are large right now.

another good tip for not missing the bite is to
peel your shrimp and cut into very small pieces with a very sharp knife. Only big enough for them to get a taste, your hookup percentages will sky-rocket (on those tiny hooks I mentioned.

Found good ones off the surf at low tide last week. Center folly wade out past the trough
