1 million bucks worth. That is crazy! I found a buoy a bucket and some old balloons. I need better luck!

Balloons are the most common sighting for me I think.

Never have I ever seen a straw though…you’d think with the big stink that there would be straws all over the ocean. Maybe they get scooped up with the coke when people find it lol

Not to hijack the thread, but waterkeeper finds plenty of straws in our marsh. I know people kind of give a side-eye to the straw thing but try to change peoples mindset about single use plastics and I think you gotta start somewhere. If you are skeptical that plastic waste is a problem, please join Charleston Waterkeeper or SSWA on a marsh pickup and you will have a change in mindset I think. Floating mylar balloons are obvious because they will float like that forever (almost) until someone picks them up, but what about all the other trash that sinks or suspends…Its a problem… big problem.

I didn’t mean it like that man. I just wish they’d hang their argument on something a little more common. ONE turtle with ONE straw shouldn’t be what it takes to change things. There are plenty of products to go after that would have a greater effect IMO. How many plastic water bottles do we consume as a country?

Here’s your plastic cup, would you like a cardboard straw?

Agreed. Plastic cups and bottles are MUCH worse of a problem! Probably a lobby against it I’d guess
