who sells Yamaha 4 stoke oil

who has good prices in chas on yamaha 4 stoke engine oil?
do any of the parts stores sell it or is it dealer only?

Just a question! Why would you pay so much more for motor oil and use the Yamaha oil. Because the Yamaha Manuel says only use that type?

I’ve been using Pennzoil for about 6 years now, No complaints and can be found for around $20/gal.

DF; Do you mean that if I need a pull rope for my Yamaha F25 I can use a rope I got for a Merc? Darn I could have saved myself some money! Broke my pull rope once and the manual said only use a Yamaha rope! Had to call SeaTow and get pulled back in and wait until the next business day to buy another! And it was a long weekend:angry::wink:

What type of filter do you use Easy?

West marine sells yamalube but you may have to order it so that you know you get the amount you need.

Not me Fritz! I was just being a smart azz about having to use the oil and parts the Yamaha manual says to use. Only Yamaha motor oil. Give me a break:smiley:

any oil that meets Yamaha recommended spec will work, But i will warn you, I’ve had bad luck with aftermarket filters on Japanese outboards and only use OEM(Nipondenso)oil filters. If you compare them to teh aftermarket filters, the nippondenso filters are made much better

any oil that is marine speced will work, just like spareparts said, but there is a definite difference in the anti corrosion and anti gumming additives in the different oils.
seems I remember a few years back that a bass fishing magazine did a comprehensive test on all the major brands of marine oil, and did find differences
