Who to talk to

I really would like to get a gigging forum started on Charlestonfishing, I think a ton of people would use it and enjoy it. Does anyone know who I should try and talk to or how I should go about getting one started?

Thanks

Hca; All ya gotta do is start a new topic and you’ll get all the chatter tou want!!

I’d be surprised to see anyone giving up any good gigging info.

I’ve stopped gigging recently as I personally feel there’s way too much pressure on the flounder nowadays. Its a precious resource that will be hurting badly here in the next few years I think.

If you are a gigger, it would be nice if you kept that info to yourself. There’s only so many banks out there…

May all your favorite bands stay together…

Well to let the cat out of the bag gigging near any structure by the mouth of harbor is good and the edge of any inlet is as well. Flounders are primarily ambush hunters so think of places they would stage for the tidal flow. The low incoming tide is good around inlet edges and high is good around shallowish structures. Go on the calmest day you can with the brightest lights you can with high hopes but low expectation’s and you will probably come away good. Some people use a trolling motor to stealthily propel there selves others pole but either way the guy on the front of the boat gets twice as many shots as the guy on the back. If you’ve never done it then be careful bringing them in you want to sling them in quick and at an angle because straight up and down gravity will help you lose plenty of fish. Plenty of people also pole fishy creeks and do well. No matter what you gig try to size them up well because you don’t want to gig something out of slot.

Thanks 40inchreds. Great post.

stingrays man. the next wave. abundant is an understatement, can do it during the day. compete w/ gamefish for food and habitat and they are winning.

Is your gig for sell? :sunglasses:

“Kleenex, The Official Sponsor of Fishb8”

I had to check the date on that Florida Sportsman link, I thought it was an April Fool’s joke

Stingrays will become the highly sought after gigging trophy once we get the flounder stocks to collapse, like the inshore cobia fishery that used to be so awesome.

Well said, sir. The current limit is unsustainable and no one needs that many flounder.

Ive started keeping a few skates and rays over the past couple of years when i was doing a big fish cookout. Its stringy like chicken and meaty like a halibut. Very tasty if done right
