I also use startron and have been running it often lately, but i’m still having to clean out the vst every other month. i simply don’t want it in my tank anymore period. i’m sure plenty of people have zero problems, but i have and am done with ethonal. i’ll drive to cola if i had to, to get ethonal free.

Some newer motors are capable of running on up to 10% ethanol. Older motors are not. Mixing the two, and then letting the boat sit for a bit is all it takes for ethanol to start reeking havoc. I am lucky that I can run either 10% Ethanol or e-free gas. But, I do make it a point to treat it with Star Tron if it is E gas, and I never mix the two fuels together. Using Star Tron is definitely the smart way to go is you have to use E-gas.
I put my boat up last year with about 20 gallons of E-10 in the tank. Kept meaning to stabilize, one thing led to another and never got around to it. I’ve had a real busy spring and early summer and finally pulled the boat out a couple of weeks ago, Cleaned her up, 20 hour service, swithed the battery on and crossed my fingers when I went to fire her up. Fired on the first turn of the key and ran like a top. I’m not saying that I shouldn’t have stabilized and I’m not saying that I wasn’t scared to death that I had screwed something up, but I ran it all day without a single spit, sputter, nada… I will also say that I did purchase some stabilizer and added the appropriate amount to my tank when I filled up after I got off the water…
