Lines in short and north of 226 hole 320ft at 745 with a green crew. Had a triple knock down with in 10 mins. It was chaos, but we were able to boat 2 of the three. We probably missed 10 fish today b/c of rookie mistakes, but still managed to put 17 dolphin in the box. Also caught our first sail of the season, and first billfish for a crew member. We were having a ball and decide to head in to try for some bottom species, and then I realized my port engine was out. Needless to say we didn’t bottom fish and had to poke in on one engine at 14 mph. SLOW five hour ride to the dock, even thought we were gonna run out of gas but thank the Lord we made it back. The crew learn a lot today!
17 dolphin + 1 sailfish - long ride = still a fun day
lol much better than getting skunked losing and engine and running out of gas on the way in! Congrats on the sail!!! They are all nice…did it have any size? What did it bite on?
Been there with the 5 hour return ride. We had plenty of gas but ran out of beer! I carry a spare coil for my engines (Yamaha 150s) since all 3 failures have been caused by one going out and it only takes 5 minutes to change them. Glad the fishbox was full.

thanks guys! the sail hit a green/white squitch and the dolphin hit everything. The size was mixed, with 10 gaffers, 5 slingers, and 2 peanuts. I need to learn more about our verados. The same thing happened once last year. Not sure what the problem was this time yet, but last time they said it was the float that regulated the gas flow?

Blanding, your spark plug leads originate in a coil on the side of the engine. With my Yammies when one goes the engine only runs on 2 cylinders…will start but not get any revs. Quick and dirty way to check:With engine at idle pull off top plug lead. If engine stalls, coil is good. If engine continues to run, coil n/g. Check other leads the same way. Replace coil ($70) and off you go. Don’t know if this is a common problem with other Yamahas but has been an issue with my Glacier Bay since the engines are mounted pretty low and get more salt into the engine than on many boats. If you want more details PM me.

The people pushing those Verados need to be kicked in the dingaling… nice sounding trip other than MFG issues…

I wish that I could say that I didn’t agree with you, but our boat has been in the shop enough times, 5 times, in the past three years to prove otherwise.
