I have not … but I did find one floating in one of the coves over by Pine Island last year … are they any good?
I used to catch alot of 25-35 inch fish on them in the deep river channel ffrom the towers to Spence. Haven’t used them in quite some time though. Turned a buddy onto them a few years back and he still swears by the. The red head/white body usually was te best followed by the silver/blue back ones. Chip mentioned something about them in one of the other threads last week. Just curious - been thinking about trying them instead of downrodding as a change of pace. Also used to use a 3oz green/white bucktail with a chartruce worm while running a trailer of some sort 2-3 feet back of bucktail on a triple swivel.

huh … the one I found floating is a red head/white body … I think it’s a 25 … I’ll throw it out the along with the U-rigs …
I presume they have to be trolled at the same speed as u-rigs (2.5 - 3.0 mph) …
We normally run that line (Spence to Towers) with downrods and herring, but we need to keep it simple on a school night … LOL
10-4 on the school night stuff. The stretch’s run deep and hard, make sure you have a good knot on them and a stiff rod. I usually try to stay at 2 or as close as I can. Again, many years since I tried them but used to have great luck also. Big Baits = big fish though i’ve caught some ther same size as the lure! Good luck - I hafta be in Charlotte at 8am in the morning…otherwise you have me thinking!

Well, I hope to (finally) be able to post some pics that’ll have you regretting … LOLOL
Rick. Thats what we caught our first fish on that night me u and liz trolled. It was a red/white stretch25 but that one was a broken back style. Both broken backs and regular ones work good if u can find those fish in 25-30ish feet of water.

Well in that case what I found was a Stretch 30 … I think … I’ll post a pic of it later and you guys can tell me what the heck it is … LOL
The 25 is about a foot long - the 30 dwarfs it! Roughly 15-16 inches.

The stretch 25 is 8" and the 30 is 11". Now I understand how you are catching all of these 30" fish, no concept of inches. lol

Everyone on this thread is talking about my trolling staples Stretch 25’s and green or white buck tails with contrasting curly worms
Only thing no one mentioned was ice flies or tiny feather spoons trailing 36" behind.
Rick, sounds like my Stretch lure. Hope it’s luckier for you. I lost that one, a blue/black, and blue/silver all in one day a while back!
Talk about a hit to the wallet…and people say bait fishing is expensive!
I haven’t tried them much in freshwater…I use to catch some striper with them off the outerbanks from oregon Inlet up to Rudee. And I also trolled them with wire leaders because of the big bluefish around…They will troll better with a thin diameter line or wire to attach to the eye of the plug… The 1.5 oz horesehead bucktail jigs with 6 inch chartruse Captain Mack’s curly tail is my favorite troller on down rigger or leadcore on Lake Murray…I get the horsehead jigs from Jim Farmer at Castaway Bait and tackle…

If you’ve had fun catching fish on the transom bait, you are welcome…
I’ve spent about 85% of my life’s wages on fishing, the rest I just wasted…
Whelp … 1 short of limiting out on one U-Rig … The other rig was hit at the same time … Two rigs = six fish … Only 1 fish wasn’t a keeper (18") … The rest were between 22 - 25 inches … Two hours trolling for 10 minutes of excitement … Pictures tomorrow
okay … this lure is smaller than I remember but here it is … you guys tell me what it is …
