Who's interested in a safety session? 8/29

The tides kinda suck this weekend at my favorite fishing places so I’m wondering if we want to get together and talk safety followed by some practice

I’m thinking Saturday at Paradise Landing 9am. It’s a big enough gathering spot, water is warm, and there’s good fishing most of the time.

Here’s what I’m thinking. Let me know if you guys want to do this.

General discussion
PFDs
probable ways of dying: drowning, heart attack, heat stroke, stinkpots
probable ways of getting hurt: hooks, cuts, sunburn, bites/ stings
self rescue
assisted rescue
ditch bags
safety gear
cold weather safety

Tell me what you think guys and let me know if you’re interested.

picking up my yak tomorrow, never been out before so any kind of saftey lesson is a plus. let me know if your still up to it.

Weather permitting and if a couple of guys respond then I’ll be there. Paradise landing off Hwy 17 N past Wando High School… I think it’s Chandler Rd. 9 am

I’ll probably launch at first light trying to get a red or 2.

Definitly a good topic Too Busy. I worked in the kayak biz most my life, family used to own Ocean Kayak, then I started Mainstream and Islander, and did design work for Perception. I wrote the yellow safety warning that you find on about all yaks today. Have given seminars on everything from fishing/diving out of a yak to surfing one. If interested could give ya a hand in any of this. Have also done a lot of seminars on kayak repair and outfitting.

I also need to go thru all my old kayak R&D stuff and have a garage/yak sale, have a lot of hatches, paddles and other accessories still.

Saturday wouldn’t work for me tho as going to Stonomans dock party round 10 am.
