I remember seeing them feeding on flying fish years ago as far as you could see huge schools many fish almost hitting the boat as they re-entered the water. I wish I had taken some video back then.

dayum, just Dayum! Seen something like that before in the middle of the Pacific, quite a sight to see for sure that close up!

those are the little tuna. That was a daily event when I was at tropic Star last month and we would only chase the schools when we got tired of dragging baits for billfish.

It does happen here…people just don’t see it as often.

We had to fix our starboard outrigger bc of this in 2004. Every line went down, every man was occupied and no one was paying attention to the yellowfin destroying our squid daisy chains. Bent the living hell out of the rigger. I always make sure to keep the drags on those teaser reels backed off now…

Do not tell fish stories where the people know you; but particularly, don’t tell them where they know the fish.

We ran into a school like that while fishing the Governor’s Cup out of Bohicket in 96. Only it was much bigger and had huge sharks feeding on the tuna. I remember it looked like hogs wollowing in the mud and the ocean was red with tuna blood. We had all six rods go down and landed 4. Man I miss those Yellowfin
